Associate Director Vacancy

The following notice has been prepared by the Nominating Committee of the UL Federal Credit Union upon request of the Board of Directors.

The ULFCU Board of Directors is seeking an individual to fill the vacant position of Associate Director. This person must be a current ULFCU member, in good standing, and specifically willing to fulfill the description listed below.

Purpose:

The purpose of a person in this position is to support and formulate a succession plan to fill vacant positions on the Board of Directors. Associate Directors are treated in all ways as Board members except that they may not vote at Board meetings. Ideally, this Associate Director would serve multiple terms, gaining knowledge and experience, to be prepared for election into a vacant position. An Associate Director should understand the financial statements of the credit union and possess a base level of financial skills, consistent with the size and complexity of ULFCU. Additionally, Associate Directors should be able to examine and analyze balance and income statements, have a basic understanding of risks to the credit union, and understand specific activities in which the credit union is engaged. Training in these areas is available and encouraged if needed.

Expectations:

The role of an Associate Director is to attend all monthly board meetings, the annual meeting of members, enter into discussions and attend educational sessions and strategic planning. This position serves at the discretion of the Board of Directors and will not be brought before credit union membership for approval. The appointed Nominating Committee will present eligible candidates to the Board of Directors for selection. At this time, there is one (1) vacant Associate Director Position, expected to serve for a one-year term. At the end of the term, the board will vote to replace or renew the Associate Director for additional terms. Associate Directors are expected to act at all times in accordance with the Credit Union’s Bylaws and applicable Federal, state, and local laws.

Qualifications:

Any ULFCU member, with an account in good standing is eligible to apply. The Nominating Committee is interested in members who are eager to participate and learn. A college degree or upper education and/or experience in a financial-related field will be prioritized.
